Juneau “The rest of the Story”

Mighty Great Trips provided a historical tour of the area on our way to Mendenhall Glacier, a USFS Park.   (Along the way we stopped at Lemon Meadow to view Lemon Glacier.)  After touring the park visitor center and watching an introductory film, we hiked about 1 mile out to Nugget Falls which provided beautiful scenery of the lake, ice bergs, Mendenhall Glacier and of course Nugget Falls.  WOW!!!

We also spent time geocaching (Don found 9), street walking and general wandering about after our tours.  Along the way we enjoyed the State Capitol tour (Juneau is the Capital of AK), the Governor’s Mansion, The City Museum, The Waterfront, The Federal Building, many Art Galleries, shops, restaurants, including the famous Red Dog Saloon and a fun visit to Cole Park and Gold Creek where the gold mining began.

Congratulations on your geocaching finds in Juneau. We found some there too when we were up there a few years ago. Fun times. By the way, we are in Woodburn, Oregon which is just south of Portland. Give us a call if you happen to pass through the area.
