A Birds Eye View

Day 3  It’s been a loooooooooong day...and getting longer as I sit here in Sitka.  A long day that is.  Today sunrise in Sitka 4:10 a.m. - sunset 9:50 p.m...dawn arrived at 3:06 a.m. and dusk will start at 10:56.  That leaves very little time for DARK.  Right now (9 p.m.) it is cloudy with intermittent drizzle and broad daylight!!!  I don’t know if I can stay awake till sunset, but one thing for sure I’ll miss dusk and both hours of DARK  No Mosquitos...too cold, about 50 for a high today.  It was about 95 when we left home 3 days ago.

We had clear weather on our flight from Seattle for about 1.5 hours and then clouds for the last hour.  Took a walk around town to get acquainted with some of the 13.8 Highway system miles that make up Sitka.  Todays pictures include a birds eye view of the Inside Passage and “downtown” Sitka (pop 8952).

An Alaska App is all you need...to check in!
Power outlets allow me to edit some video while waiting
for our flight to Sitka AK

One of 25 shots of the inside passages...

I think it's Mt Baker (WA)

Looks like old man weather blowing up a storm...

These black wisps of clouds looked like porpoise in the sky...
as they flew by snow capped peaks.

Touchdown Sitka (long narrow landing strip
shows water out of both sides of the plane).

  1. When & where do you board your ship/boat? I am sorry our cruise did not include a stop at Sitka. Looks very interesting. Happy caching Don.
