As you’ve noticed we’ve been out of touch while cruising. I wrote the blog each day and will now try to publish them all here in Juneau...
June 8 Day 1 was sort of a hurry up and wait kink of a day. After checking out of our Sitka Super 8 motel, we drug our luggage a short 2 blocks to the Westmark Hotel to ready for our small ship cruise. We had half a day left after securing our belongings in the “ready” suite. So we shopped, did lunch and some last minute site-seeing before “wandering” back to the hotel. With a wine in hand, I applied myself and managed to finish editing all our video footage. We were transported to the ship by bus and our Wilderness Exploration began with a cocktails, a welcome orientation and a fabulous dinner as we pulled out of Sitka under partially cloudy skies which presented a fabulous sunset about 10:00 p.m. We spent the night in Paviat Harbor

We visited the Sitka Firehouse and received a tour. The fireman giving us the tour said that the lady whose name is painted on the fire ladder truck gave them $300,000 after they cleaned her driveway with a firehose in early spring. It paid for half of this $600,000 rig!!! |
