Heading South & East

Our high temperature for the day was 55 degrees, and we had lots of beautiful clouds, some rain and gusting chilly winds.    The clouds enhanced the scenery and this mad photographer took only 214 photos... most of them video clips, lucky for you!!!

We traveled about 220 miles today to the middle of the middle of absolutely nowhere, Rachel NV http://www.rachel-nevada.com where Don did some geocaching along the Extraterrestrial Highway (NV #375) with “Stubby” in tow...now that’s dedication.  As some of you may know,  we called our 28’ 5th wheel “Stubby” and couldn’t think of a better name for the 2010 35 footer.  However on our trip thru the NW last year, we traveled by “Big Red” my red Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and decided since the little vehicle was called “big”, the big rig should be called “stubby”.  A tradition is born (again).

The 261 mile route to Alamo NV was a beautiful "high desert" trip as we wandered east, south, north and east again over some winding, "no shoulder" two lane highways that climbed up and down between 4500'-6400' as we crossed over one scenic summit after another and wandered thru many lazy valleys and even spotted 2 big horn sheep along the highway near a lake.   Who says there's nothing to see in Nevada!!!
.

Where's area 51 - somewhere near here.

Lots of mining and headstands in NV

Colors of Nevada

Tonopah NV  straight ahead and we do mean straight!!!

These Pigeons circled overhead then "dropped" in order
along the fence.

This one hopped down and let me get within 2 feet to capture
his photo - he was hoping I had something to eat...

More Nevada Colors...

The clouds loom...

The road deteriorates...

The sagebrush blooms

And we even get a rainbow before the "Aliens" appear...
