A WONDERFUL SURPRISE

After 50 miles of our 170 miles of site-seeing this morning, we decided that today was going to be our first DUD. However, by the time we took our hike at the end of the road at the very northwest point of Washington, Cape Flattery Trail, we had changed our mind...as the day continued to offer many interesting “Kodak” moments.  Other prominent sites were along the Sol Duc River near Sol Duc Hot Springs.  We enjoyed a leisurely 1 mile loop walk around the Ancient Groves (after making a quick stop at Salmon Cascades).   Many tall trees, including Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar and Western Hemlock, some up to 750 years old, grew from 200 to 300’ tall while seedlings covered the forest floor.  We also were very impressed by Sol Duc Falls 2 mile round trip hike.  Not only the hike, but the falls, a fall of falls in our mind.  So the day ended up to be a great WINNER after a slow start.  Tomorrow we head Kalaloch Lodge overlooking the mighty Pacific Ocean.
I finally took a picture of this creative sign
