New Mexico - an Early Christmas

Don and I gave this 7-day trip to ourselves as an early Christmas Present… so here we go!!!

Day 1 - Colorful and Varied is the best way to explain the scenery we saw today as we traveled 222 miles from Canyon Vistas RV Park to St Johns AZ

It was about 70 degrees when we left CV at 10:00 a.m.,  at an elevation of about 1800’...  By the time we reached the White Mountains east of Show Low on our way to St Johns, we had traversed roadways, up and down, thru valleys, volcanic areas, meadows and high mountain passes the took us over 9200’.  Sure glad we didn’t tow “Stubby” on this trip!!!  We’re traveling in the “Hog” only this time.   That’s Don’s Chevy Silverado, which thought todays travels were a piece of cake.   Fall was in the air and leaves offered colorful sights along waterless river bottoms, and the varied landscape enhanced by fabulous cloud formations.  A 5 star day to say the least.

The trip down into the Salt River Canyon was fabulous...

Don takes a look back as we climb up the other side

as I enjoy the Sotols gracing the steep bank.

Enjoy the rest of the day's sites as we fly by doing 60...

  1. Sorry I did not think about checking your blog until it is time to come home. At least I will know where you have been! Safe travels back to us.
